Bodie Island Lighthouse  was completed in 1872 and is seen here in 1893. It has recently received sufficient funding to make structural repairs and clean the original first-order Fresnel lens. Beginning in April 2013, you can once again climb the 214 steps to the top for unparalleled views of the Outer Banks.

It pays to have the right number of family members with you on vacation to help recreate a 120-year-old photograph.

This is Dare County Courthouse in Manteo in the 1930s.

Mt. Olivet Church is located in Manteo on Roanoke Island and is seen here in a 1912 photo.

This is the Coast Guard Station on Oregon Inlet in 1934. The Station is just down the road from Bodie Island Lighthouse.
